Many stray cats and dogs are dependent on food and waste from restaurants and markets : Manish Joshi
The 21-day lockdown in India has greatly affected people as they are unable to step out of their homes unless it is absolutely necessary. Meanwhile, pets are very happy as their owners are giving them more time and have been personally feeding them too. However, strays are not that fortunate. There have been stray dogs and cats loitering around the now empty streets, wondering where all the humans have disappeared. And while that’s that, it is important that we do not forget our humanity. They are living beings too and need to be taken care of in this crisis as well. In normal course, strays tend to thrive on the leftovers outside restaurants or food that is distributed by people who care for animals. However, with all shops and restaurants shut, there is no way anyone can feed the strays easily, unless they take extra efforts to bring out food for them. Ever since the lockdown began in India, singer Manish Joshi aka MJ started an initiative by distributing masks among people. Recently, the singer once again went out of his way to feed stray animals on the streets of Mumbai.
Manish said, “Many stray cats and dogs are dependent on food and waste from restaurants and markets. Coronavirus has emptied the busy streets, leaving the strays starving. I found many stray dogs running from one place to another in search of food. With people being at home, the animals were left with no option and were helpless. If they are not fed properly, it will create another roadblock for the humans.”
Besides this, Manish is also involved in many other social works. Giving a piece of advice to everyone, he said, “Now is the time we stay at home and maintain social distancing from people. If you go out to buy any essential commodities, please wear masks and use hand sanitizers. Also, don’t forget to feed the strays as they have no source of food at this moment. Hopefully, everything will be better. Let’s pray for the betterment of the entire world.”
